A Nuclear Weapons Convention
is the Answer
A Nuclear Weapons Convention is a worldwide treaty which would ban nuclear weapons
permanently and ensure their elimination. The International Campaign to Abolish
Nuclear Weapons has provided more detail about a Nuclear Weapons Convention.
Even though there have been significant reductions in nuclear arsenals since the
end of the Cold War, the nuclear weapons still deployed in the world are more than
enough to kill us all several times and turn the planet into a barren wasteland.
The best way to prevent the use of nuclear weapons is to abolish them through a comprehensive
international treaty like a Nuclear Weapons Convention under strict and effective
international control. The nuclear armed states oppose fast progress towards a convention,
but most countries support it. Until nuclear weapons are totally eliminated we must
make sure they are not used.
A Nuclear Weapons Convention, or something like it, is is both necessary and feasible.
It is also a legal obligation because the nuclear-armed states are under a Good
Faith obligation to achieve a nuclear weapons-free world.
You can ask your MP to sign an Early Day Motion about a Nuclear Weapons Convention

Our Resolution for CND National Conference, was submitted by Sussex Peace Alliance
and adopted in October 2011. This also refers strongly to the Nuclear Weaopons Convention.
